Jaume Casas

I spent 6 years building backend systems for Zurich and Telespazio. Then I spent 4 years in professional kitchens. Now I use both to build the software hospitality actually needs.

Software
2015

Telespazio Ibérica / Indra

Java developer & IT helpdesk. Server maintenance, incident management (L1), and first steps in production systems.

2018

everis — Enagás & Zurich

Backend architecture from scratch. SpringBatch pipelines, performance testing, direct client requirements gathering. Stack: Angular, Java, SOAPUi, SQL.

2022

Pause. Deliberate.

Left the industry to train as a chef at CETT UB. Best decision I ever made.

Kitchen
2023

Ca La Nuri / Cristine Bedfor

Chef de partie. Strict waste control, inventory management, supplier orders. Rice specialist — arroces were my station.

2024

El Bar Escocés / Fismuler

Sous chef (El Bar Escocés) and chef de partie (Fismuler). Full kitchen coordination, service decisions, stock control in high-pressure environments.

2025

KIKIRIKI — Family business

Rostisseria founded in 1962. Helping with kitchen and building the tools we wish had existed all along.

What I build

The software I build comes from a problem I've lived.

I don't build tools to show them off. I build them because I needed them and the market didn't give them to me.

Invoice Digitizer

OCR

Photograph a supplier invoice, get it in Excel.

OCR reads product, quantity and unit price off every line of a delivery note and dumps it straight into a spreadsheet. No more typing invoices by hand. Built it for my father, who'd been doing this on paper for years.

Price Alert Agent

Agent

Flags price changes between invoices from the same supplier.

When an ingredient goes up, you find out from this agent, not from a bad month at the end of the P&L. It compares each new invoice against the supplier's history and raises an alert the moment a price moves.

KIKIRIKI POS

PWA · Tablet

Point of sale that runs on a tablet, no monthly fee.

SumUp was charging us a monthly fee and we had zero real ownership of our own sales data. Built it for the family business: full menu management, cash and card payments, ticket printing on an EPSON TM-M30 over WiFi, physical cash drawer, pre-bill without fiscal value, Z close, traceable voids, cloud sync on Supabase, and a reports panel with KPIs, charts, top products and history.

Recipe Costing Engine

Building now

Real-time food cost per dish, built from actual invoice prices.

Crosses each recipe against the real ingredient prices pulled from the Invoice Digitizer, and plugs into the Price Alert Agent. When an ingredient's price moves, the food cost of every dish that uses it updates on its own — no more recalculating escandallos by hand after a price hike.

Let's talk

Building something for hospitality?

I'm looking for a role or collaboration where I can bring both sides together — the engineering and the kitchen experience. If that's your team, I'd love to hear from you.
